Máire Mc Callion
Born Donegal Ireland
Máire started dancing at the age of 3 and was taught by the Worlds most championed school the McConomy's in Donegal & Derry. She qualified and competed at the World Irish Dancing Championships every year under an CLRG. She had great success in her competitive dancing career recalling and placing within the top 20 every year at the World Championships.
She also had great success in her non competitive career, at the age of 16 was successful in gaining entry to 'Riverdance the show'. She spent 2 years training with Riverdance's flying squad in Dublin at weekends whilst finishing her highschool studies in Donegal. On completion of her University degree 4 years later she takes to the stage again and goes on tour to Europe, Canada, America, India and Taiwan finishing her career with a farewell tour in China in 2008. She toured with various groups within this time including Gaelforce where she was awarded lead understudy performer in 2007.
She is now in Auckland teaching young kids and adult dancers the gift of Irish Dance. It has been her passion for all of her life and she would like to pass her Irish heritage onto to people of NZ.
